China-born Yipeng Ben Lu (Ben) is a multiple award-winning media producer/director for his work in television commercials for clients such as Mercedes Benz Canada, The Salvation Army, Vancouver Aquarium, Air Canada, BMW, Toyota Canada and many others. He is also the producer for BLOOD AND WATER, a television series now in its fourth season. Blood and Water is a ground-breaking, critically acclaimed primetime drama featuring first time ever in North American television history, an all-Asian lead cast with both English and Chinese as the performing languages, launching a number of noteworthy acting careers that have gone onto lead and supporting roles for Marvel, Netflix and CBC etc. The show has been nominated multiple times by Canadian Screen Awards and BC’s The Leo Award.
Some of the recent projects he has been involved in in producing capacity are feature films The Kindergarten Teacher, Informer, Ms. Purple, Skin, to name a few. Ben also consulted and did translation for Netflix’s marquee series Marco Polo, served as a supervising producer for Zee International, India’s largest media group, and is currently working on a developing number exciting projects both in films and TV series.
Ben speaks native Cantonese and Mandarin and plays an active role in community work, having served on the boards of Chimo Service Society, Pangaea Art Society and has provided pro bono services for organizations such as Seva Canada. He currently also serves as an advisor to KCTS Seattle, a PBS affiliate in the State of Washington, US. He also works closely with his Asian-based connections to bring in business and investment opportunities to Canada.
